Brushing and flossing remove a lot of plaque, but rarely all of it. Plaque left on the teeth hardens into tartar, which a toothbrush cannot remove. Patients at both Anytime Dental branches often ask how often they need a professional cleaning and what happens during the visit. This guide answers both and lists current cleaning prices in Dubai.
At a glance
- Many adults are advised to have a professional cleaning about every six months, but your dentist sets the interval for you.
- Regular cleaning and deep scaling are different visits. Your dentist recommends one.
- Early Christmas Offers from 1 November 2026: regular cleaning AED 200, deep scaling and polishing AED 250, Airflow cleaning for veneers AED 350. Conditions apply.
- Both branches, Deira (Al Ghurair Centre) and Barsha Heights (Tecom), are open daily 10 AM to 9 PM. Walk-ins welcome.
How often should you get your teeth cleaned?
The familiar advice is a cleaning every six months, and for many adults that works well. Dental guidance now leans towards a personal interval. Your dentist looks at your gums, how fast tartar builds up and your history of decay before suggesting when to come back.
You may need cleanings more often if
- your gums bleed when you brush or floss, or you have been told you have gum disease
- tartar builds up quickly on your teeth, often behind the lower front teeth
- you smoke, drink a lot of coffee or tea, or have frequent sugary drinks
- you have braces, aligners, crowns, bridges, implants or veneers, which add places for plaque to collect
- you have diabetes or another health condition that affects your gums, or you are pregnant
You may be able to wait longer if
your gums are healthy, you have little tartar at each visit and you clean between your teeth daily. Regular check-ups still help spot early decay or gum changes.
Regular cleaning, deep scaling or Airflow: what is the difference?
Regular cleaning
A regular cleaning removes plaque, light tartar and surface stains above the gumline, then polishes the teeth. It suits people with generally healthy gums who come in on a routine schedule. You can read more on our teeth cleaning page.
Deep scaling and polishing
When tartar is heavier, or has collected just below the gumline, the dentist may recommend deep scaling and polishing. It takes longer and focuses on the areas where gum inflammation usually starts. See our scaling and polishing page for details.
Airflow cleaning for veneers
Airflow uses a fine stream of air, water and powder to clean around veneers and other restorations.
What happens during a teeth cleaning visit
- Check first. The dentist looks at your teeth and gums. If needed, an X-ray is taken in-house to check for problems that cannot be seen.
- Removing tartar. An ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments are used to remove tartar. You will feel vibration and water spray.
- Polishing. The teeth are polished to remove surface stains and leave them smoother, which makes it harder for plaque to stick.
- Advice. The dentist explains what they found, shows areas you may be missing when brushing and suggests when to come back.
Most routine cleanings take one visit. If the dentist finds decay or gum disease, they explain the options and costs first.
Risks and what to expect afterwards
Teeth cleaning is routine, but side effects can happen. Some people have temporary sensitivity or sore, bleeding gums for a day or two, especially if the gums were inflamed. Once tartar is removed, small gaps or gum recession may become easier to notice. Results vary from person to person, and your dentist will explain the risks before you start. Tell the dentist if you take blood thinners or have any medical condition.

Frequently asked questions
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
Many people are advised to have a professional cleaning about every six months, but the right interval depends on your gums, how quickly tartar builds up and your general health. Some people need a cleaning every three or four months, others can go longer. Your dentist will suggest an interval after checking your teeth.
What is the difference between regular cleaning and deep scaling?
A regular cleaning removes plaque, light tartar and surface stains above the gumline. Deep scaling and polishing is used when there is heavier tartar, including just below the gumline, and usually takes longer. Your dentist decides which one you need after an examination.
Does teeth cleaning hurt?
Most people feel vibration, water and some pressure. If your gums are inflamed or your teeth are sensitive, parts of the cleaning can feel uncomfortable. Tell the dentist during the visit so they can adjust the approach.
How much is teeth cleaning in Dubai at Anytime Dental?
During the Early Christmas Offers from 1 November 2026, regular cleaning is AED 200 (was AED 250), deep scaling and polishing is AED 250 (was AED 350) and Airflow cleaning for veneers is AED 350 (was AED 500), at both branches.
