Dental Insurance Reimbursement in the UAE: How to Claim

Dental clinic reception desk with card terminal and invoice paper

At a glance

  • Anytime Dental works on a reimbursement basis only. We do not direct bill insurers.
  • You pay at the clinic (cash, card, Tabby or Tamara), then claim from your insurer.
  • We give you the papers most insurers ask for: itemised invoice, receipt and a claim form signed by the dentist when you bring one.
  • What you get back depends on your own policy, its dental cover, limits and co-pay.
  • Both branches, Deira (Al Ghurair Centre) and Barsha Heights (Tecom), open daily 10 AM to 9 PM.

Many patients in Dubai ask us the same question before booking: “Can I use my insurance at your clinic?” The short answer is yes, through reimbursement. This guide explains what reimbursement means, the documents you usually need, and simple steps to check your cover before treatment, so there are fewer surprises later.

Direct billing vs reimbursement: what is the difference?

Health insurance claims in the UAE usually work in one of two ways. With direct billing (sometimes called cashless), the clinic sends the bill to your insurer and you pay only your share. With reimbursement, you pay the clinic in full, then send your receipts and forms to your insurer, who pays you back according to your policy terms.

Anytime Dental is a reimbursement clinic. We are not in any insurer’s direct billing network, so you will not need an approval at the reception desk. You pay after your visit and then claim from your insurer yourself.

Does my policy cover dental at all?

This is the most important question, and only your insurer can answer it. Many basic health plans in the UAE cover limited or no routine dental work, while others include a dental benefit with a yearly limit. Before your visit, it helps to check:

  • Whether your plan has a dental benefit, and if it is included or an add-on.
  • Your yearly dental limit and any co-payment or deductible.
  • Whether reimbursement claims are allowed for clinics outside the network.
  • Which treatments are excluded, for example cosmetic work such as whitening or veneers.
  • If any treatment needs pre-approval before it starts.
  • The deadline for submitting a claim after your visit.

You can usually find this in your policy table of benefits, the insurer’s app, or by calling the number on your insurance card.

Documents insurers usually ask for

Each insurer has its own rules, but most reimbursement claims include some or all of the following:

  • The insurer’s claim form, with the patient section filled in by you and the treatment section completed and signed by the dentist.
  • An itemised invoice showing each procedure done, not just a total.
  • Payment receipt for the amount you paid.
  • Supporting reports if the insurer asks, such as a treatment summary or X-ray report. Our clinics have in-house X-ray.
  • A copy of your Emirates ID and insurance card, and your bank details for the refund (these go to your insurer, not to us).

Tip: download your insurer’s claim form before you come in and bring it to your appointment. Our team can complete the dentist’s part on the same day.

Step by step: claiming after your visit

1. Book a free consultation

The dentist checks your teeth, takes X-rays if needed and explains the treatment options. You get an estimate. Prices are estimates and the final price is confirmed after consultation.

2. Check with your insurer

For larger treatments, share the estimate with your insurer first and ask what they will cover. Some plans ask for pre-approval for things like crowns, root canal treatment or implants.

3. Have the treatment and pay

You pay at the clinic by cash or card, or split the payment with Tabby or Tamara. Ask for the itemised invoice and receipt before you leave.

4. Submit your claim

Send the forms and receipts through your insurer’s app, email or office, within their deadline. Keep copies of everything. The insurer reviews the claim and pays the approved amount to you.

Common reasons claims are reduced or rejected

  • The treatment is excluded under the policy, for example cosmetic procedures.
  • The yearly dental limit has already been used.
  • The claim was submitted after the insurer’s deadline.
  • Missing pages, signatures or an invoice that is not itemised.
  • Pre-approval was required but not requested.

We cannot promise any amount your insurer will refund, as that decision belongs to them. What we can do is give you clear, complete paperwork for your claim.
