Essential Information About Braces

Braces are orthodontic appliances that gradually move teeth into correct alignment using brackets and wires. They are a long-established treatment for crowding, gaps, misalignment, and bite issues.

Who Needs Braces?

Children, teens, and adults can all benefit. Common issues include crowded or crooked teeth, gaps, overbites, underbites, crossbites, and teeth that are not in their correct functional position.

Types of Braces

Metal braces are the most common and durable. Ceramic braces use tooth-colored brackets for a less visible look. Lingual braces sit behind the teeth, hidden from view. Self-ligating braces use clips instead of elastics for fewer appointments.

Treatment Time

Most patients wear braces for 18 to 24 months, though mild cases can finish in 12 months and complex cases may take up to three years. Adjustments happen every four to six weeks.

What to Expect

Mild discomfort and pressure for the first few days after each adjustment is normal. Soft foods help during these times. Avoid sticky candy, popcorn, and hard foods that can damage wires and brackets.

After Braces

A retainer is essential after braces are removed to keep teeth in their new positions. Most patients wear retainers full-time for several months, then nightly for years to prevent shifting.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from our patients in Dubai

How much do braces cost at Anytime Dental?
Under our current offer (from 9 October 2026), metal braces start from AED 500 per arch (was AED 1,000). The discount is 40 to 50% at our Deira branch and 50% at Barsha Heights. Adjustment visits are not included in the offer and are AED 250 per visit. The final price is confirmed after a free consultation.
How long do I need to wear braces?
Most people wear braces for about 18 to 24 months. Mild cases can be shorter and complex cases can take longer. You will visit the clinic for an adjustment about every four to six weeks.
Am I too old for braces?
There is no upper age limit. Adults can have braces if their teeth, gums and bone are healthy. Your dentist will check this with an exam and X-ray before recommending treatment.
Do braces hurt?
You may feel pressure and soreness for a few days after the braces are fitted and after each adjustment. Brackets can rub the inside of the lips and cheeks at first. Soft foods and orthodontic wax can help during this time.
Can I continue braces that I started in the Philippines or another country?
Yes, our dentists can assess your current braces and treatment progress. Please bring any records or X-rays you have. The dentist will explain the next steps and the cost after checking your teeth.
What are the risks of braces?
Possible risks include gum irritation, white marks or decay if teeth are not cleaned well around the brackets, root shortening, and teeth moving back if a retainer is not worn after treatment. Your dentist will explain how to lower these risks.
